Blogging: Select School Library Blogs

I'm Susan Herzog, Information Literacy Librarian @ Eastern Connecticut State University. This blog is part of my blogging presentations.

Coxsackie-Athens High School Library
Carolyn Brook, School Library Media Specialist, updates the blog at least once a day (“to change the library calendar”) and uses the blog to provide links to subscription databases and to other websites. She has created outstanding categories of links by teacher's name or assignment. In addition, she recently started a book review blog to encourage students to write about what they're reading in a more informal setting than they do in class. This is an excellent example of a school library blog, organized by category, with impressive and extensive links for students and teachers.

Elementary School Blog
Blog of school librarian Norma Smith, “who works in Austin, Texas. Includes sites designed for elementary school teachers and librarians.”

Galileo Academy of Science & Technology - Li-Blog-ary
Patrick Delaney, librarian at the Galileo Academy of Science and Technology, San Francisco, CA, a public science magnet high school, has a blog for “the library’s digital daily agenda.” This sophisticated blog is as good as it gets!

Hunterdon Central Library
Harlene Rosenberg, Supervisor, Hunterdon Central (NJ) Library Instructional Media Center (IMC), and her colleagues, Heather Hersey, and Phyllis Miller, support this excellent regional high school blog. Included are links to Electronic Resources (Online Catalog, Electronic Databases, Links to Other Libraries, Access from Off-Campus); Project Links and Research Guides for classes; Recommended Websites; and a Periodical List. Entries are organized into a News Archive, a New Books Archive, and a Cool Websites Archive.

Keansburg High School Library Blog
Unfortunately, this blog falls short of its description, A Daily Journal of Library Information for Students and Staff, as the last update was November 01, 2004.

LRC Blog
School Library News, organized by date and category, from the Learning Resources Centre, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Education Centre (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada).

SLA WEBLOG
The School Library Association weblog includes "news and information that will be of interest to both our members and anyone else who is interested in school libraries."

Thacher School - Library Blog
Elizabeth Bowman, Library Director, James G. Boswell Library, The Thacher School, Ojai, CA, posts “links to high-quality web sites, services and resources within the James G. Boswell Library at The Thacher School.”
